Campground Policies

Policies

  • CHECK IN / CHECK OUT

    • Check in time is from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm for cabins/glamping tents or 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm for campsites. Early check in available upon request depending on prior day reservations. 

    • Check out time is 10:00 am or after for cabins/glamping tents or 11:00 am or after for campsites. Late check out available upon request depending on next day reservations. 

  • REGISTRATION, OCCUPANCY, and VISITORS 

    • Camping reservations will not be issued to anyone under 21 years of age.

    • All occupants must be registered--not by name, just included as part of the total number of people in the reservation.

    • Any unregistered occupants are considered visitors and are not allowed to stay overnight. Visitors are not allowed in the campground between before 8:00 am or after 10:00 pm.  All campers are responsible for their visitors.

    • Guests are not permitted to use another site other than the one assigned without permission. Do not camp outside of designated campsites.

    • Do not exceed the maximum occupancy for the assigned site.

      • A maximum of 6 adults are allowed per site at any time.

      • Campsites are limited to two (2) tents or one (1) tent and (1) Recreational Vehicle (RV) and max of six (6) occupants. Four (4) occupants are included in the base pricing. The fee for additional occupants is $10/guest per night.

      • Cozy cabins are limited to a max of three (3) occupants. Two (2) occupants are included in the base pricing. The fee for additional occupants is $20/guest per night.

      • Escape cabins are limited to a max of four (4) occupants. Four (4) occupants are included in the base pricing.

      • Haven cabins are limited to a max of six (6) occupants. . Four (4) occupants are included in the base pricing. The fee for additional occupants is $20/guest per night.

      • Rustic glamping tents are limited to a max of four (4) occupants. Four (4) occupants are included in the base pricing.

      • Luxe glamping tents are limited to a max of six (6) occupants. Four (4) occupants are included in the base pricing. The fee for additional occupants is $20/guest per night.

      • No tents or shade structures can be set up at cabin or glamping tent sites.

  • NOISE​

    • The Desert of Maine Campground is a quiet, serene campground. Please act accordingly.

    • Quiet Hours are from to 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Guests arriving or departing during quiet hours, should pretend the campground is filled with light-sleeping, hardened street fighters who just start scrapping when they are awoken. If someone is not respecting quiet hours, please call or text us. Guests who violate our quiet hours policy will be given one warning. After the first warning, they will be asked to leave.

    • Generators are not allowed.

    • Dogs who bark excessively will be asked to leave.

  • VEHICLES

    • ​​All vehicles must park at their assigned site or in designated parking areas. Do not block the road or prevent access to other sites. Max of one (1) vehicle per site. Additional vehicle parking is available in the larger parking lot near the entrance to the campground.
    • The only RVs allowed in the campground are vans and truck campers. Max length of 20ft. No travel trailers, Class A, Class C, motorhomes, tear drop trailers, pop-up trailers, or other RVs of any kind.
    • Drive slowly (10 mph max) within the campground.
    • Do not leave your vehicle running in the campground.

    • Turn off lights while unloading.

  • PETS

    • We love dogs. We accept all scruffy-duffy boys and girls (i.e. well-behaved dogs) regardless of breed.

    • Other types of pets are not allowed.

    • Dogs must be registered ($20/night per dog for cabins/glamping tents, $10/night for tents/RV, payable via Venmo to @desertofmaine). Why so much? Muddy paws and hair everywhere, cleaning up after them, and noise complaints.

    • Service dogs are exempted from the nightly fee.

    • Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and must not be left unattended.

    • Unfortunately, dogs who bark too much are probably stressed out by the camping experience so we will have to ask their owners to help them calm down or take them back home.

    • Guests must clean up after their dog(s).

  • SMOKING, VAPING, and ALCOHOL

    • Smoking or vaping of any kind is not permitted on the premises. The Desert of Maine is a tobacco-free campus. 

    • Alcohol is permitted within assigned sites for guests of legal drinking age. Do not take alcohol outside the assigned site. Please do not get out of control or you will be asked to leave.

  • FIRE, FIREARMS, and FIREWORKS​

    • Campfires are only permitted in the provided fire rings.  

      • Do not leave fires unattended.  

      • Do not move the fire rings.  

      • Do not burn cans, glass, or trash.

      • Firewood is available for purchase 24x7 (self-service, honor system) at the Camp Store.

      • To prevent the spread of harmful pests, firewood should not be brought from out of the area--in fact, it is illegal to bring firewood in from out of state. 

    • Firearms are prohibited on the premises.

    • Fireworks are prohibited on the premises.

  • CANCELLATION POLICYCancellations made prior to 14 days in advance of your stay (3:00 pm the day your reservation begins) will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 14 days before the beginning of the stay will not receive a refund regardless of weather or other circumstances. Requests to change the reservation dates within 14 days of your original date of arrival (eg. shortening your stay or shifting the arrival date earlier or later) will be at the discretion of the Desert of Maine. 

  • HOUSECLEANING, TRASH, and DISHWASHING

    • Guest will be responsible for keeping their site clean and in good condition.

    • Any unsafe or dangerous condition must be reported to the Desert of Maine immediately.

    • Daily housekeeping services are not included in the rental rate. Fresh towels can be requested for an additional fee for guests renting cabins or glamping tents.

    • You acknowledge that on the Arrival Date, the site is in good condition, except for any defect you may report to the Desert of Maine by the end of the first day or your arrival.

    • The site should be left in the same condition as you found it on the arrival date. 

    • Guests are responsible for disposing of their trash in on-site trash cans or dumpsters (located in the main parking lot). Do not leave trash behind.

    • Put everything back in its place if you moved anything (example: picnic table).

  • DAMAGES: Guests are financially responsible for any damages caused to Desert of Maine property.

  • LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. The Desert of Maine is not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occur to any registered guests or visitors. The Desert of Maine is not responsible for loss of personal belongings or valuables. Guest agrees to assume the risk of any harm arising from use of the Desert of Maine property. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES AND UNDER NO LEGAL THEORY, TORT, CONTRACT, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, SHALL OWNER BE LIABLE TO GUEST OR ANY OTHER PERSON FOR ANY DAMAGES OF ANY NATURE WHATSOEVER INCLUDING ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT OR GUEST’S RENTAL OF THE PROPERTY OR USE OF THE PROPERTY. IN NO EVENT WILL THE DESERT OF MAINE BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THIS AGREEMENT,
    EVEN IF THE DESERT OF MAINE SHALL HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

  • INDEMNIFICATION. Guest acknowledges that the use of the Desert of Maine property by registered guests and visitors is entirely at their own risk. Guest will indemnify and hold harmless The Desert of Maine from any and all expenses, costs, damages, suits, actions, or liabilities whatsoever arising from or related to any and all loss of or damage to personal property, injury or death resulting from the use or occupancy of the Property or the failure of any registered guests or visitors to observe the policies described above.

  • VIOLATION OF AGREEMENT. If Guest or any registered guests violates any of the terms of this Agreement, including but not limited to maximum occupancy, visitors and rental rules and restrictions, The Desert of Maine may evict Guest and registered guests from the Property and Guest will forfeit all rent and security deposit paid.

  • GOVERNING LAW. This Agreement and all transactions contemplated by this Agreement will be governed by, and constructed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of Maine (not including its conflicts of laws provisions). Any dispute arising from this Agreement shall be resolved through mediation. If the dispute cannot be resolved through mediation, then the dispute will be resolved through binding arbitration conducted in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

  • AMENDMENTS. This Agreement may be amended or modified only by a written agreement signed by both The Desert of Maine and Guest.

  • NO WAIVER. Neither The Desert of Maine nor Guest shall be deemed to have waived any provision of this Agreement or the exercise of any rights held under this Agreement unless such waiver is made expressly and in writing.

  • SEVERABILITY. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable in whole or in part, the remaining provisions shall not be affected and shall continue to be valid and enforceable as though the invalid or unenforceable parts had not been included in this Agreement.

  • NOTICES. Any notice or communication under this Agreement must be in writing and sent via email to reservations@desertofmaine.com.

  • SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS. This Agreement will inure to the benefit of and be binding upon The Desert of Maine, its successors and assigns, and upon Guest and its permitted successors and assigns.

  • ENTIRE AGREEMENT. This Agreement represents the entire understanding and agreement between The Desert of Maine and Guest with respect to the subject matter of this Agreement and supersedes all other negotiations, understandings and representations (if any) made by and between the Parties.
